ACCRA, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) -- The Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has taken a decision to terminate the appointment of Black Stars manager Charles Akonnor and his two assistants, GFA announced in a statement Monday.

The decision follows the receipt of the technical report from the manager of the Black Stars and the report from the team's management committee following Ghana's Group G world cup qualifying matches against Ethiopia and South Africa.

"The Executive Council, after considering the two reports, have decided to terminate its relationship with the Head Coach Charles Kwabena Akonnor and the two assistants," the GFA said in a statement.

Meanwhile, the Executive Council has formed a three-member committee made up of GFA Vice President Mark Addo, and two others to find a new manager and assistants for the Black Stars within the next 72 hours.

Ghana beat Ethiopia 1-0 in the opening match of the Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifier in Accra on September 3 and lost by the same margin away to South Africa.

The country has three points and lies second after South Africa in Group G ahead of Ethiopia and Zimbabwe after the two opening matches.

The Black Stars will take on Zimbabwe in the next round of games in October this year.
