Did South Africa's Covid-19 tobacco ban work?

When South Africa went into lockdown in March last year, a tobacco ban was introduced.

This was in the hopes of encouraging people to quit - while also freeing up hospital beds and preventing infections with the virus.

This may have worked in the short term. But long-term change is harder to achieve.
