Lions head coach Ivan van Rooyen has made several changes to the side that will host Griquas in a Currie Cup match in Johannesburg on Wednesday afternoon.
The Lions were last in action when they beat Western Province 38-32 at Ellis Park on 23 June, with subsequent matches against the Sharks and Cheetahs called off.
Up front, the front row of Sti Sithole, Jaco Visagie and Jannie du Plessis all get their first start of the Currie Cup season, while flank MJ Pelser will also make his first appearance.
No 8 Francke Horn remains the Lions captain.
In the backline, Morne van den Berg starts at scrumhalf, while flyhalf Jordan Hendrikse makes his Currie Cup debut. Centre Burger Odendaal and wing Stean Pienaar also return to the fray.

On the bench, scrumhalf Andre Warner returns from a cheekbone injury and lock FP Pelser also awaits his return to action for the Lions.
If he gets a run-on, Under-21 captain and loose forward, Travis Gordon, will make his debut.
"It's great being back home for this Currie Cup match. We've missed out on one or two matches this season, so we are all just very excited to get the season back on track," said Van Rooyen.
Wednesday's match at Ellis Park kicks off at 14:30.
