The Hawks have confiscated abalone worth R2.7 million in a bust in Cape Town.
The Hawks' Serious Organised Crime Investigation team together with Crime Intelligence and officials from the Department of Environment, Forestry and Fisheries (DEFF) conducted a search and seizure operation. They uncovered an illegal abalone drying facility in Willow Creek, Brackenfell.
During the operation, officers found abalone worth an estimated R2.7 million, Hawks spokesperson Zinzi Hani said.
