On Monday afternoon, workers at neighbouring factories in Parow noticed clouds of black smoke coming from JRE, a nearby rubble transport business.
Black plumes of smoke rose into the sky as the blaze engulfed the building. Thirty firefighter crews, from across the Cape metropole, worked to contain the fire.
Fire and rescue spokesperson Jermaine Carelse told News24 emergency services arrived on scene at 11:30.
"The building has been declared unsafe and two trucks were destroyed in the fire," he said,
"A 38-year-old man was taken to Tygerberg Hospital after he sustained second degree burn wounds to his leg and arm," Carelse added.
The fire was contained after three hours. Its cause is still unknown.
