Police have launched a manhunt for three suspects after five people were killed. They were shot execution style.

A sixth person managed to survive the suspected hit.

According to police, the victims were travelling in their vehicle in KwaNdengezi, near Pinetown in KwaZulu-Natal on Saturday evening, when they were pulled over.

Police spokesperson Colonel Thembeka Mbele said the suspects climbed out of their vehicle, a VW Polo, and ordered that the six passengers exit the vehicle and lie down on the ground.

They then proceeded to shoot each of the passengers in the head.

One victim managed to survive the shooting and is currently being treated in hospital.

Mbele said the motive for the killing is unknown.
