Jo'burg residents have had to contend with outages above and beyond the scheduled load shedding, as power trips hit the West of the city.
City Power Johannesburg alerted the public of the outages via its Twitter account on Thursday evening and said that technicians were on site. According to the City, a number of distributors tripped, including the distributor supplying Lenasia and the surrounds.
Affected areas included Roodepoort and surrounds such as Florida, Wilro Park, Strubens Valley, Little Falls and Weltevreden Park.
By 7:50pm, the City said power had been restored to some areas.

The northern parts of the city faced power outages over the weekend due to an explosion at Brynorth power station, in Bryanston, Fin24 previously reported.
